ANU theses are to be used only for the purpose of private study and research.
You can identity a thesis in the catalogue by the location 'Menzies thesis'. All ANU Doctoral and some Masters' theses are held in a restricted area of the R.G. Menzies Building, with exceptions:
- Master of Law, Master of International Law theses (pre-October 1987): in the Law Library.
- ANU Honours theses: not in the Library; check with the ANU Colleges
- A few non-ANU theses with access restrictions
- Non-ANU theses without access restrictions: on the open shelves

Access to on-site users
You cannot borrow an ANU Thesis. However, they are available to the public for reading on site. Restrictions apply.

Requested theses are available for reading on site at these times:
- Monday to Friday : 10.30 a.m, 2.30 p.m
- Sunday : 1.45 p.m.
If you submit your requests by the above times, you can collect them after the next pick-up. Please allow 10-15 minutes for retrieval. Telephone and email requests for thesis retrieval will be accepted (subject to conditions as above), but you must fill out a request card before you read the thesis.
