Finding good information requires some detective work:

• Analyse your topic more deeply - perhaps begin with some background reading. What type of information do you want and how much? Are you using the best search terms? Ask for help at the Library Information Desks or the Academic Skills and Learning Centre
• Narrow your search topic? Use more specific words or add words using AND
• Broaden your search - Use synonyms, related terms or ideas; combine these using OR
• Consider alternative spellings and variant word endings - find these using wildcard and truncation symbols eg colo?r, comput*
• Use subject headings to find related material - take advantage of the analysis already applied to the material
