Users with a disability

Welcome to the ANU Library!

Personal Contact

The Library has a staff member located in the Chifley Building who can assist users with disabilities. If you have special concerns, please phone: (02) 6125 4084, or email to: socialsciences.library@anu.edu.au

In addition, Library staff in all buildings are most willing to help eligible users in any way possible, for example, by

  • collecting books from the shelves,
  • arranging for books to be brought from other buildings,
  • assisting in the use of the Library's online catalogue, INNOPAC, and in the use of electronic services.

Off-Campus Service

You can request Library material to be delivered to your home. For more information see the Off-Campus Service web page.

Special Needs Resources

The ANU Disability Services Centre provides a special resource room in the Student Facilities Building (near the Chifley Building, above the Commonwealth Bank in Union Court).

For information phone: (02) 6125 2344, or see Assistive Technology for Students with Disabilities.

Audiovisual Services

Audiocassettes, videocassettes, lecture and language tapes, together with facilities for viewing and listening are available in the J.B. Chifley Building and the Law Library.

A free lecture tape copying service is also available (if the lecturer has given permission for copying) - for students who have a disability card. Ask at the Chifley or Law Loans Desks.

Inter-library Loans

Library materials in formats suitable for people with disabilities (e.g. talking books) can be identified through Libraries Australia and requested on Inter-Library Loan.

If you are away from the ANU, this login will allow you to access restricted material as though you were still on campus at Acton. This is sometimes called the "reverse proxy".
