Institutional or corporate membership
Registrations for Corporate Membership must be lodged at the Loans Desk, RG Menzies Building (6125 3428 - asiapacific.library@anu.edu.au).
It is not possible for the Library to provide external borrowers with Internet access.
External Borrowers may borrow 15 items at the one time for a 4 week loan period (unless the item is recalled by another borrower within the 4 week period). Only items held in the University Library's general collection may be borrowed. This does not include serials, items held in the Reserve Collections, audiovisual materials, or teaching resource material held in the Art and Music Libraries.
Category F External Borrowers registered with the Art and Music Libraries may not borrow from other ANU libraries. (For more information contact the Art or Music Loans Desk).
Please note that loans cannot be processed without a card and that cards are not transferable. Lost cards should be reported immediately to any Loans Desk.
For more detailed information about borrowing, please consult the Loan Schedule.
Reservations (Holds)
If a required item is out on loan, it is possible to place a reservation for it via the online Library Catalogue. Please consult Placing a Reservation (Hold) for more details.
Fines and Penalties
When a reservation has been placed on an item, the current borrower is notified of the new due date (which is ten days after the reservation was placed). If the material is not returned by this new due date, fines will accrue at the rate of $4.00 per day. It is advisable to ensure that mail is checked daily so that items recalled for other borrowers can be returned promptly on request. This ensures that overdue penalties are not incurred and that other borrowers are not prevented from obtaining wanted material.
For more detailed information, please consult Library Fines/Penalties for Overdue/Lost Items.
Reserve Collection
External borrowers are not eligible to borrow from the Reserve Collections, ie items which are restricted to a 2 hour or 2 day loan period.
Inter-library Loans
External borrowers may obtain items held by other libraries within Australia and overseas via inter-library loan for a fee. For details of charges, see Document Supply Service.
