Chifley Library level 3 prepares for 24/7 access

24 January 2017

We’ve worked closely with the designers and project managers to ensure that the comfort and safety of the students was at the forefront of our design.

Chifley Library is expanding its 24 hour access to include a second floor for the 2017 academic year with a major refurbishment currently underway.

The Chifley Library has temporarily closed access to level 3 while works are in progress. All requests for items located on level 3 should be directed to Chifley Library staff.

Due to reopen in February, the finished project will provide completely modernised study areas designed to maximise the number of students that can be accommodated comfortably.

University Librarian Roxanne Missingham says the design elements of the new space have been chosen with ANU students in mind.

“We’ve worked closely with the designers and project managers to ensure that the comfort and safety of the students was at the forefront of our design. We want all our spaces to be inviting and conducive to quiet study, as well as able to accommodate collaborative learning. The level 3 design certainly meets those requirements”, said Ms Missingham.

The new level 3 of Chifley Library, offering 24/7 access, will be open for business at the beginning of Semester 1, 2017.
