SciFinder Scholar requires a Citrix client plugin for your web browser. It lets MacIntosh users (also unix, linux and Windows users ) launch an MS Windows session on a remote server.

A note for Mac users about the Citrix client
After setting up your browser, if you see "Error number 51", open the Citrix client editor and change the default setting from "TCP/IP + HTTP" to "TCP/IP" and save.
Safari
- Go to SciFinder Scholar
- A "Downloads" dialog box will open
- In the "Downloads" dialog box, click on the magnifying glass icon opposite "remotelaunch.asp"
- Click on
- Action ->
- Open with ->
- Citrix ICA client (default) ...or something similar
Internet Explorer
Note: IE for Mac is no longer supported by Microsoft; you should switch to Safari if you can.
Associate the mimetype "x-ica" with the Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server Client plugin. Here's how:
- Launch Internet Explorer
- Select Edit, then Preferences
- In the left panel of the Preferences dialog box, under Receiving Files, select File Helpers
- Click Add to display the Edit File Helper dialog box
- In the Description field, type ICA file
- In the Extension field, type asp
- In the MIME Type field, type application/x-ica
- In the File Type section of the dialog box, click Browse to go to the location of the ICA Macintosh client and select Citrix ICA Client and click Open
- Enter TEXT in the File Type box
- Select the Plain Text radio button and Use for Incoming, Use for outgoing check boxes
- Select Post-Process with Application from the How to Handle drop down list
- Click on the Browse button and select RunCitrix from the ICA Macintosh client folder
- Click OK

Netscape
Associate the mimetype "x-ica" with the Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server Client plugin. Here's how:
- Launch Netscape
- Select Edit -> Preferences -> Navigator -> Applications (from the Edit menu)
- Click on the New button
- In the Description field, type ICA file
- In the MIME Type field, type application/x-ica
- In the Suffixes field, type asp
- Select the Application radio button and click Choose to browse to the location of the ICA Macintosh client and select RunCitrix
- Select TEXT from the File type pop up menu in the File Info section
- Check the Macintosh File and Use this MIME type for outgoing attchments check boxes
- Click OK
