An ISO Z39.50 enabled system or program lets you search catalogues and databases individually or simultaneously. Even though they have different interfaces, you use just one screen. Save time by using Z39.50 compatible tools like EndNote to download bibliographic references.

Endnote Connection files for the ANU Library Catalogue

To use Z39.50 with EndNote, you need the right "Connection File".

(Mac users: your Connection File is in MacBinary format, so you will need StuffIt Expander or a similar application to decode the connect file after you download it)

The ANU Library Catalogue and EndNote: The ANU Library Catalogue (using INNOPAC software) has unique behavior when it comes to "AND / OR / NOT" searching. INNOPAC only checks the Keyword index for the search terms -- regardless of the search fields you've indicated in EndNote's Search window. For example, a search for "Haydn" in Author AND "concerto" in Title becomes a search for "Haydn" and "concerto" in the Keyword index.

You can get around it this way:

1. Searching for one field at a time, for example: "Haydn" in author
2. download all the results
3. then search through your results for a title with "concerto" in it.
