Card operated photocopying and printing

A card operated system called Copy Card is used with ANU Library public access photocopiers, reader-printers and network printers.

The Copy Card system uses cards carrying a magnetic stripe. You can revalue these cards.

Locations

Photocopier and printers using this system are located in the following areas:

Main Library Buildings:

Chifley, Hancock and Menzies Buildings and Law Library

Branch Libraries:

Art, Chemistry, Earth Science, Music

Charges

Printing

Cards are available from three sources:

1. Dispenser / Revaluer machines

Chifley, Hancock, Menzies, Law and Music libraries (The Music Library card dispenser only takes coins).

Cost: $2.00. This can be a $2 coin or any combination of coins (excluding 5c pieces) which add up to $2.00.

The dispenser/revaluers do not give change. For example, if you put $3.00 or $2.50 in the Dispenser/Revaluer, it will not give change or add value to your card.

You cannot buy a card with a $5.00 note.

2. Over the counter

You can buy Copy Cards over the counter in the Chemistry and Earth Sciences branch libraries.

There are no dispenser/revaluers in these libraries but you can revalue cards in the Chifley, Hancock, Menzies, Law and Music libraries.

Cost: $5.00 (with $3.90 copying credit) or $2.00 (with 90c copying credit).

3. Departmental funds transfer

ANU Departments may use a departmental fund transfer form to purchase cards. Pick up your cards at the Menzies Building loans desk (#2).

Print out and sign a fund transfer form:

Operation

  • How to print from networked printers using your copy card
  • Library photocopiers, reader/printers and network printers are fitted with a small swipe-card terminal. To use a copy card:

    1. The display on the keypad will read:
      Date Time
      Please swipe card >>
    2. Swipe your card with the magnetic stripe on the bottom and to the right. The display will change to:
      Enter PIN: ****
      -- if you have one,
      or immediately to:
COPY CARD 123456 (the number printed on the card)
      Dr/Cr0000/your limit.
    3. The copier is now activated. Do your copying.
    4. Very Important:
When you have finished press the FINISH button on the swipe terminal.

Care of the card

Treat your card with care. Do not crush it, bend it, or carry it around strong magnetic fields. The machines only recognize cards issued by ANU.

Damaged or lost cards

The card, once purchased, becomes the property of the purchaser. The ANU Library cannot replace Cards which are lost or damaged beyond use. However, if you have remaining value on your card and you registered your card by entering a 'Personal ID', you can have the remaining value transferred to a new card by using the Lost Card Notification Form.

Refunds

As mentioned above, cards once purchased become the property of the purchaser. No refunds will be issued for partially used cards.

Enquiries

Address all enquiries about the Copy Card system to the main loans desk in each Library building. Library staff will forward the enquiry to the Division of Information Administration office.

Note:

You can only use copy cards sold at the ANU in ANU Library machines.
Change is not available in any Library location.
