The relocation of material and back-spacing of the collection in the Library, comprising Stages 1 and 2 of the Project, will have been completed by December 2008, and work will begin on 24 November 2008 to increase the number and range of learning spaces in the Chifley, Menzies, Law and Art Libraries. They will be available by the beginning of the 2009 academic year. The Art Library will be closed for refurbishment during the period 8-12 December 2008.
The improved learning space will cater for both single and group study, allow easy access to a range of electronic resources, and enable the use of portable devices across the campus network. In total over 330 extra learning spaces will become available, an additional 260 power points will be installed, and the wireless network will be extended to provide better coverage in the Library.
Information about these plans is available in the Library and on the Library website http://anulib.anu.edu.au.
At the beginning of 2008 additional learning space was made available in the Hancock Library for use by students. (Some further space has also been made available temporarily pending its re-use by the University.)
The University Library thanks staff and students for their patience and support during the course of the Project.

Director, Scholarly Information Services and University Librarian
