Asia-Pacific Digital Collections

A-P Digital Collections > About the Collections

History and Scope

The Asia-Pacific Digital Collections began in 1995 with the Library's Southeast Asia Digital Data Project initiative aimed at enhancing access to the wealth of print information held at the ANU Library on Southeast Asia. Two separate initiatives were undertaken as part of this Project:

These developments resulted in the creation of the "Southeast Asian Serial Index" and the "Digital Collections".

Southeast Asian Serials Index (SASI)

Currently SASI indexes academic and current affairs journals published primarily, but not exclusively, in Southeast Asia. It also includes some major European publications. The number of journal titles indexed in SASI grew substantially in 1997 when the Royal Institute of Linguistics and Anthropology (KITLV) Library, in Leiden, The Netherlands, together with their Jakarta office, joined SASI as contributing partners. More information on this index can be found on the SASI site.
