  • If using the version available via the Library's database page: JavaScript must be enabled.

Quick Start

  • Create your own user id and password (instructions at http://anulib/subjects/science/databases/sfs_login.html).
  • Click on SciFinder https://scifinder.cas.org/ from list on the library's E-Resoures page.
  • You will then be connected to Scifinder.
  • To undertake a literature search, select Research Topic from the task list and enter your search topic.
  • You may also search using Chemical Structure or Reaction, which allows you to search by chemical structure.
Search Operators
  • For best results, enter your research topic as a complete sentence, for example:
    I am interested in the effect of penicillin on milk production in dairy cows.
  • Boolean operators should be used as part of the free-text search query, for example:
    I am interested in ringed planets but NOT Saturn
    I am interested in interface software for bibliographic information OR numeric data
  • Scifinder Scholar DOES NOT use nesting.
