SciFinder Scholar - PC Software
Hardware Requirements for PC SciFinder Client
- Computer: an IBM or compatible PC with at least a Pentium processor.
- Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/Me/XP or NT 4.0
- Minimum of 32 MB RAM memory; 64 MB RAM or higher recommended; minimum of 64 MB RAM memory for Windows 2000 or XP.
- Minimum of 30 MB of available disk space, not including pagefile memory, 50 MB recommended
- TCP/IP network level to CAS via the Internet, Z39.50 application level connection to CAS through port 210
- Monitor: SVGA color monitor. Minimum 800x600 screen resolution, 1024x768 or higher recommended. Minimum of 256 colors.
- Printer: a high-quality graphics printer, e.g., laser or inkjet, is recommended
- Web Browser: Netscape Navigator or Communicator Version 4 or higher or Internet Explorer Version 4 or higher.
To obtain the ANU PC Scifinder Scholar Software
The software for ANU users only is available as follows.
- Map to the network drive \\software.anu.edu.au\software (via File Explorer), connecting as "guest". If you are unsure how to map to this network drive, please talk to your local IT support unit.
- Select the folder named SciFinder Scholar 2004 and download sfs2004.exe . You may also need to download the site.prf file - please refer to Information on installing SciFinder Scholar 2004 (PC) .
Users who only need the latest password file: Follow the instructions above, but only download the site.prf file. Place this file in the main SciFinder directory, replacing the old version. If your current version of SciFinder is connecting to the database without problems, you already have the updated password file.
