Change happens in cycles, patterns and rhythms... Cycles of political change in Myanmar since independence…from Britain in 1948 seem to have run in cycles lasting from ten to fifteen years. (Dr. Maung Maung. 1999. The 1988 Uprising in Burma. New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, p.9).
Experience the story of modern Myanmar’s transformation over the decades as told through academic and scholarly writings embedded in the books and journals collected by the ANU Library, and supplemented by photographs, artefacts and other ephemera.
The story of the University’s intense engagement with Burma-then-Myanmar since its inception in 1950 through to present day is also on display.
This exhibition is presented by the ANU Library in conjunction with the Myanmar Update 2017 conference and will be on display until the end of April 2017.
