The Digital Engagement and Creativity Hub, nicknamed ‘The Deck’, is a BYO device room designed to encourage collaboration and offers students and academics with access to high-end technology they can use in new and innovative ways.

We have a number of fantastic (and free!) lunchtime classes running in The Deck to help improve practices for educators, academics and students.

Tech Time with Grazia Scotellaro

• ECHO360 Active Learning – Making the most of ECHO (Wednesday 23 October 2 - 3:30pm)
  • Explore how ECHO360 Active learning can be used by both students and teachers to enhance learning, from supporting flipped classroom teaching, to maximising participation and engagement.

• Mobilizing your learning – Mobile tools and tips (Wednesday 20 November 2 - 3:30pm)
  • Most, if not all of us, have at least one mobile device in our pocket... so can we actually use them for learning? In this session we’ll explore tools and tips, both old and new, from “Socrative” through to mobile-friendly authoring tools.

• Build your own multimedia eBook (Wednesday 4 December 2 - 3:30pm)
  • Content “enhanced” eBooks are gaining real traction within today’s digital scholarship space. Bring your stories, audio clips, video images, and more, and we’ll learn how to build a simple multimedia eBook together.

Information Analytics

• What IS Text and Data Mining? (Wednesday 30 October 12:15 - 12:45pm)
  • This session will introduce you to Text and Data Mining (TDM), and take you through the resources available in the ANU Library to help you better understand and be a part of this exciting area of digital scholarship.
     
• Text and Data Mining with JSTOR (Tuesday 12 November 12:15 - 12:45pm)
  • Embedded data visualisation and text analysis tools are offered by a number of the ANU Library’s digital providers. Come along and we’ll explore the TDM possibilities already available to you via the digital journal and e-Book platform, “JSTOR”.

Digital Life and Connectivity

• Managing your Digital Footprint (Wednesday 6 November 1:15 - 2pm)
  • Learn how to protect your privacy and promote yourself online. This workshop takes you through the process of analysing your current digital footprint, cleaning up your social media accounts, protecting your reputation online, and putting your best (digital) footprint forward. Just think, when a potential employer Googles you, what will they see?
     
• Video Consulting & Interviews using Zoom (Thursday 21 November 1:15 - 2pm)
  • Learn about using ANU Zoom Video Conferencing, which focuses on collaboration between users through audio/video communication, recording, and screen sharing. ANU academics, staff, and students are all eligible to create their own Zoom meeting room to host meetings.
