The OJF brings together information on open access journals in a single, user-friendly platform
The ANU Library is pleased to announce the launch of the ANU Open Journal Finder Tool (OJF), now available to support researchers in identifying suitable open access publishing venues.
- Over 13000 journals included in ANU Library’s Read & Publish (RAP) agreements where Article Processing Charges (APCs) are fully or partially covered under the agreement
- Titles supported through Subscribe to Open (S2O) agreements
- A broad range of additional open access journals indexed in OpenAlex, which may or may not involve APCs

The OJF is designed to provide clear, actionable information to support publishing decisions. For each journal, researchers can access:
- APC coverage information (full or partial), including likelihood of S2O support
- Indications of additional charges, where applicable
- Capped agreement details, including whether a publishing cap applies
- Journals can be searched and refined by subject area, supporting a more focused, discipline-based approach to selecting appropriate publications.
- Journal metrics, including SCImago quartile rankings
- Direct links to publisher or journal pages
- Clear identification of the relevant agreement, with links to detailed information on the CAUL LibGuide

To help researchers make the most of ANU’s Read & Publish agreements, it is important to follow best practice when submitting manuscripts. Recent guidance from CAUL highlights that authors should always use their institutional (ANU) email address when submitting to a journal.
Using an institutional email address is often a key factor in how publishers verify eligibility for open access agreements. If authors use a personal or non-ANU email address, they may not be correctly matched to ANU’s agreements—even if they list their affiliation—potentially resulting in:
- Missed opportunities for APC-free open access publishing
- Unexpected Article Processing Charges (APCs)
- Delays in the publication process due to additional verification steps
