Privacy Awareness Week 2021

Make Privacy a Priority
3 May 2021

This week (3 – 9 May 2021) is Privacy Awareness Week, an annual event that highlights the importance of protecting personal information, and helps organisations; agencies; and the public navigate the privacy landscape.

Privacy should be an essential component of everyday life, and this year’s theme Make Privacy a Priority encourages us take simple steps to prioritise privacy today.

To get started, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has published a number of tips and resources, including privacy tips for home and tips for work.

ANU students and staff are encouraged to find out more about their privacy rights by undertaking Privacy Awareness Training through Pulse. This training will help increase your knowledge of privacy and its context in the university. There is also a module on Protecting your Identity in the new Cyber Sense program through Pulse.

If you would like to talk to someone regarding a privacy related matter, you can speak with Alex Caughey Hutt, the ANU Senior Privacy Officer. You can email her at

You can also browse a wealth of information about privacy on the ANU Privacy webpage.
