Top tips for using the library during exams

25 October 2018

When in doubt, go to the library!

Exam period is right around the corner and it’s a good time to revisit some strategies for getting the most out of our library spaces.

Extended opening hours

Exciting news! The WK Hancock Library is now open 24/7 which gives you some extra options for study spaces. And of course, the JB Chifley Library levels 2 and 3 are also open 24/7.

To help with exam prep, we have extended opening hours for the Law Library. On Saturday 27 October and Saturday 3 November, the Law Library will be open from 9am to 5pm.

Opening hours for all branches are on the Library website.

Book a group study room

If you’re after a space to collaborate with your study buddies, we have a range of group study rooms in Chifley, Hancock and Law which can be booked online.

Find a PC

Use this helpful tool to quickly see how many PCs are available in the ANU Library. Mac computers and study spaces with power outlets are also available for use in all branches.

Past exams papers

Get exam ready by looking at some past exam papers. The ANU Library has a collection of past exam papers in a range of subject areas.

Free shuttle to the NLA

Catch the free shuttle to the National Library of Australia, departing on the hour from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday from Biology Place, the road next to WK Hancock Library. The ANU Campus Traveller bus can be tracked in real time using the ANUOK app.

Library study tips

When using Library spaces, be a considerate study buddy:

  • Respect the noise rules of the space you are in - social, quiet and silent zones will be marked.
  • Bring your headphones if you’re planning on listening to music.
  • Don’t leave your belongings unattended.
  • It’s important to keep up your energy with some brain food, but remember - no hot food or uncovered drinks in the Library.
  • Return library books on time, including the course reserve items. Don’t be that person!

Safety on campus

We want to make sure you get to and from our buildings safely at night.

We encourage you to download the official ANUOK app, which provides safety support to students and staff and access to a range of services from ANU Security.

We hope that the above tips will help make using the library spaces a little easier while you’re studying for exams. And don’t forget - when in doubt, go to the library!
