One Button Studio

The One Button Studio is currently inaccessible while Level 4 of Chifley is closed during construction. We apologise for the inconvenience. 

To record video, insert a compatible USB Flash Drive into the computer, turn on the studio lights and press the button to start recording. To end recording, press the button again and follow the instructions on the screen to eject your USB Flash Drive. A video guide to the One Button is available and provides an oveview of how to use the studio. 

Technical requirements 

The One Button Studio requires a USB Flash Drive with at least 500MB of free space.  Your USB Flash Drive must also be formatted as a FAT drive, and not NTFS or exFAT. To check, right click on your USB Flash Drive and look at properties.

WARNING: Formatting the USB flash drive will erase all content on the device.

MAC OS:

  1. Connect the USB Flash Drive to a computer.
  2. Open Disk Utility.
  3. Click to select the USB storage device in the left panel.
  4. Click to change to the Erase tab.
  5. Provide a name for the USB device.
  6. In the Format drop-down selection box, select "MS-DOS (FAT)".
  7. In the Scheme drop-down selection box, select "GUID Partition Map".
  8. Click "Erase".
  9. Close the Disk Utility window.

WINDOWS:

  1. Connect the USB Flash Drive to a computer.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer.
  3. In the File Explorer window, right-click on the drive icon in which the USB device appears.
  4. From the menu, click "Format".
  5. In the "FORMAT device name (drive letter)" window, under "File System", click the drop-down arrow and select FAT32 and then click the start button.
  6. At the "WARNING..." message, click "OK" to continue.
  7. At the "Format Complete" message, click "OK".
  8. Click the "Close" button to close the "FORMAT device name (drive letter)" window.
  9. Close Windows File Explorer.

Generally, 500MB of space is sufficient for 25 minutes of recording time, so if you intend to record for longer periods or perform multiple recordings please ensure you have ample space free on your USB Flash Drive.

Video files from the One Button Studio are in 1080p MP4 format, which can be uploaded to an online video service or played on a computer.
