A large collection (168 items) of assorted clandestine art scene ephemera issued and distributed in Chile during the years of the military regime. These items were not collected systematically by Juan Davila but were gathered by him on his annual visits to Chile made in the years after his migration to Australia. These items were generally passed from hand to hand. Davila usually picked up copies of material at functions he attended (such as private showings of work by artists). The publications vary greatly in size. Some are substantial but others are small (and some fragile). Several are published in the form of typescripts (probably issued in only a few copies and passed by hand) or as roneod documents. Some quite large and important catalogues are present but many items are small. For an article on this literature see Nelly Richard, 'Margins and Institutions' in Art & Text, 21, 1985. | JUAN DAVILA 1625 - JUAN DAVILA 1633 |
