SuperSearch
About SuperSearch
SuperSearch, via Primo, provides simple, one-stop searching across the Library collections. This includes books and e-books, journals, articles, course readings, videos, dissertations, digital media, ANU Open Research repository content and more — delivering a direct link to a range of full-text articles and resources to give you breadth of information.
SuperSearch, via Primo, also helps you manage your research. Sign-in in order to:
- renew books and videos
- create favourites lists
- export citations to EndNote Web and other citation management tools
- view full search results. Note: some databases may only show results when you're signed in.
For Law resources we recommend using subject-specific databases.
Search result records can be saved, and then emailed/exported to EndNote, or printed. To save, select the pin icon on each record in the result list and click the save option. The saved items will be in your Favourites. From there you can print, export or email your selected records.
For EndNote, select the saved records required, then click EndNote (RIS) to import the records directly into your EndNote library, or save to save the .ris file for importing later.
Search tips
Boolean operators
SuperSearch requires capitalised Boolean operators - AND, OR and NOT. For example, government AND politics.
You can also use other search operators such as:
- Phrase: use " " (for example "economic development")
- Truncation/word stemming: use (*) and quotes (for example "Australia*". This example would include the keywords Australia, Australia's, Australian).
Peer review filter
The Availability filter allows limiting of search results to peer-reviewed articles.
Results refinement
Navigate and narrow search results using multiple methods and criteria (for example by format, age and language).
Advanced search
Use advanced syntax for searches like: ("econom*" AND "statis*") OR "applied mathematics" Note: SuperSearch uses hidden indexes, so the displayed results may not show all your search terms.
