Gareth Evans papers join the ANU Archives collection
Former ANU Chancellor Professor the Hon Gareth EvansAC QC FASSA FAIIAhas donated his personal papers to the research collections of the ANU Archives.
Professor Evanssigned a Deed of Gift while at the Menzies Library to help launch the moving exhibition Hiroshima, Nagasaki and the Atomic Bomb.This was a timely occasion, as many of his papers reflect his personal and professional interest in the need for better policy approaches to eliminating nuclear weapons.
University Librarian Roxanne MissinghamandUniversity Archivist Kathryn Dan were thrilled to receive this donation.
“This extensive collection will be a major resource for researchers,” said RoxanneMissingham.
“The collection represents Professor Evans’ wide range of international engagements and leadership in foreign relations, human rights, conflict resolution and nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament,”
“It also speaks for his distinguished role as Chancellor of ANU from 2010 to 2019.”
These papers will soon be made available to researchers using the ANU Archives.
