Scholarly Portals Team receives Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Award

24 Nov 2017

The Digital Collection Transformation: Scholarly Portals Team was one of the recipients of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Innovation & Excellence in Service at the Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards ceremony held on 22 November. The team was recognised for transforming access to ANU Library and archive collections through digital scholarly portals, which has enabled staff in the Scholarly Information Services Division to work on creative projects that extend beyond collaboration with academics at ANU to provide digital resources that are used in education and research.

Selected special collections have emerged from dusty shelves to be digitised and curated on innovative online spaces, using a wide range of modern technologies. The Elizabeth Durack Scholars Portal is an example of the innovative work the Scholarly Portals Team has been doing to provide open access to the special collections held in the ANU Library.

The team developed new relationships with academics, students and external research institutions, and as a result, the University’s research strengths have been displayed in a highly engaging way to the world, building stronger networks with Australian and international researchers.

The Scholarly Portals Team is a collaboration between staff from the Scholarly Information Services Division and the College of Asia and the Pacific.
