See how our collection has grown!
Come to the Hancock Library to view our new exhibition!
The theme of this exhibit is Florilegium.
Florilegium is a broad term which meansa collection of things, or an anthology. It was later used to describe the gathering and cataloguing of floral and plant specimens.
Hancock Library has an amazing collection of materials relating to plant science. Library staff have curated a fascinating exhibition of floral and plant related items, which are currently on display on Level 1 of the Hancock Library.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see some of our most beautiful and rare items, including prints from Banks’ Florilegium – a publication of botanical engravings showing plants collected on Captain Cook's first Pacific voyage by Joseph Banks.
Also on display are several plant specimens, kindly loaned to us from The Herbarium which is part of the ANU Research School of Biology.
If you would like more information about the planet science resources available from the ANU Library, browse our Plant sciences subject guide or book an appointment to speak with a subject specialist librarian.
