ANU opens Australia’s first Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies

An agreement to establishes the Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS) at The Australian National University (ANU) Library was officially signed this morning, inaugurating the first TRCCS in Australia.

Professor Ian Young AO, ANU Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Shu-hsien Tseng, the National Central Library (NCL) Director-general, signed the agreement and officially unveiled the new Centre, which is housed in the foyer of the Menzies Library.

The Centre, which includes over 1,000 scholarly resources-primarily in the fields of history, religion, culture, literature, society and politics as well as on cross-strait relations-aims to promote scholarship by building a collaborative platform for sharing Taiwan's academic resources, and enhancing global cultural exchanges.

University Librarian, Roxanne Missingham, welcomed the agreement and celebrated the significance of this new relationship.

"I am delighted to see the Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies launched at the University. This major initiative will make a significant collection of Chinese studies resources available to the ANU community and build a strong scholarly relationship with lectures and other activities in the coming years."

Resources in the Centre will continue to increase in the coming years as a result of the agreement.

The Centre's books and DVDs are available via the Library catalogue, and a number of the National Central Library of Taiwan's unique databases for Taiwan and Chinese Studies can be found below:
