April 2025 update - Reopening of the Art & Music Library
The Art & Music Library branch will reopen at 9am on Monday, 14 April 2025.
After a period of essential works over sixteen months, we are pleased that the Library space at the School of Art and Design will be available once again for the University community.
The Art & Music Library will be open to the public:
- Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
After-hours access for SOMA&D Staff & Students Swipe Access will be available
Monday to Friday 8am to 10pm
- Saturday to Sunday 9am to 4pm
The Library will be closed on public holidays.
Work to install fixed shelving has been completed. The reshelving of over 60 metres of collection material has been completed, noting collection shelving and review will continue once the Library is reopened.
Collections and services will be available.
- The majority of materials that were relocated to Chifley (higher-use and requested items) have been returned to the Art & Music branch.
- Material not yet returned will be reshelved throughout Semester 1.
- Library staff will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-1pm during Semester one.
- Self-service use of the library and collections will be available outside of those times. This includes staff support available via the Library Chat service, Phone Service, through the Chifley Library, or non-urgent support via the Ask A Librarian Service.
- Service delivery will be evaluated at the end of Semester 1.
We are very grateful to Construction Control staff for the completion of the essential works and for the work towards reopening the Art & Music Library.
The Library will continue to work closely with staff from the School of Art and Design and the School of Music to support students and academics in learning, teaching, and research.
