Important update - ANU Library moving to new library systems

06 May 2022

The ANU Library is upgrading our library management systems to improve services for students and staff.

This upgrade is very exciting and will provide easier to use more integrated systems for library users.

What will be changing?

A new single search portal will replace a number of our current systems. This means you will have one integrated tool to search for, access, and request materials from our collections.

This new system will enhance the student and academic experience by:

  • improving access to resources when and where you need them
  • provide an enhanced search experience with more accurate linking to resources
  • providing a modern and user-friendly interface, making it easier to navigate library systems
  • increasing links with other libraries and systems for resource sharing
  • reducing logins – login once to access e-resources, find physical items, view your loans, renew items, request and track InterLibrary Loans, request a purchase, generate and view reading lists, view Open Research records, and more!

Why are things changing?

We are committed to ensuring a world-class experience for all library users. To do so, we need a modern library management system that is adaptable to our changing needs.

This important upgrade will bring ANU Library systems up-to-date with other academic libraries in Australia.

While most of the changes are behind the scenes, this new system will significantly improve services for all users, as well as support the work of Library staff.

It will improve the visibility and accessibility of the University’s extensive collections and provide greater integration for library management services and systems.

When will things change?

The upgrade is scheduled to be completed in August 2022.

We will be providing regular updates through newsletters, emails, on our website, and social media over the coming months.

Get involved - give us your feedback!

To make sure we are best meeting your needs, we will be seeking input from library users on the design of the new system.
