New Oxford and Cambridge Read and Publish Agreements
We are very pleased to announce that the ANU Library has signed new Read and Publish (RAP) agreements with Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press.
These agreements allow ANU authors to publish open access in selected journals without having to pay Article Processing Charges (APCs).
These new agreements will enable ANU authors to publish without paying APCs in hundreds of journals! Disciplines covered range from Marine Biology, to Business Ethics, to Music History, to Law, to Religious Studies and much more.
Both Oxford and Cambridge University Presses are highly used publishers by the ANU community. With these new agreements, the ANU Library now has RAP agreements in place with 8 out of 10 of the publishers most published in by ANU authors.
These agreements represent savings to the University and authors, and will allow more publication of ANU research as open access, with all the additional benefits that brings.
Professor Stuart Wyithe, Director of the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics said of the agreements
“Agreements like these allow ANU researchers to share their work more broadly, resulting in more citations and greater access to the world-class work undertaken at the University. So far in 2023 authors from the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics have had 19 articles made open access through Oxford University Press and we hope that number will increase during the life of the agreement”.
So far this year, ANU authors have published or had accepted 33 eligible articles with Cambridge University Press and 39 articles with Oxford University Press.
These agreements will be applied to all of 2023, including retrospective months. ANU authors who have had an article accepted in an included journal in 2023 will be eligible to convert that article to open access without being charged an APC. Eligible authors will be contacted by the publishers to confirm the conversion to open access. Authors who have not been contacted but believe their articles should be covered by this agreement should contact Rebecca Barber.
